This is a fun workshop for those who love to dance. Monisha Bharadwaj who has a friendly teaching approach will help you to learn this classic modern Indian style.
Bollywood is the nickname for Bombay (Bombay + Hollywood) - the capital of Indian film making in India. Bollywood produces between 900 and 1000 movies per year - compared to Hollywood's 500 a year, that is a lot!
Indian films are known for their overdramatic and charming style - and not to mention the amazing dance scenes with lyrical and energetic moves, unique hand movements and facial expressions. The moves done in these dances were originally taken from the various traditional Indian Classical dances and folk dances either to indicate a certain mood or a certain part of India. As the movie industry grew and western influences reached the choreographers of Bollywood, they developed a unique style; an "East goes West" mixture. This style is recognized all over the world today - mainly because of its great blend of western and eastern influences.
Participants will have a chance to learn a dance routine to perform at the end of the season by then you will be moving like a true Bollywood star!
